Exploration of what constitutes a fair or just distribution of goods in society (e.g. whatever results from a free market; to each according to her needs: whatever distribution is to the advantage of the least advantaged). Topics include the ownership of private property, egalitarianism, welfare state liberalism, socialism. Readings in political theory with emphasis upon contemporary theories. One course.
