Political Economy

I work on the political economy of medium run transformations of industrialized economies. I explore how changes in the income distribution, its dynamics, as well as labor market mutations related to technological change, demography, and exposure to trade may affect political outcomes such as redistribution or polarization. On the methodological front, I concentrate my effort in measurement and identification. I am interested in the application of hierarchical models to measurement problems (mostly from a bayesian perspective). My approach to identification tries to emphasize as strongly as possible the relationship between theoretical and statistical modeling, in particular in the credibility and justification of exclusion restrictions.I also try to do my best follow developments in what has been broadly called as "data science" or "predictive modeling" and to maintain good computational skills in R and Python.
