Capstone Course for Certificate in Civic Engagement and Social Change: Lives of Civic Engagement

This course is a capstone seminar and is for those students who are in the Certificate in Civic Engagement and Social Change or for students who want to think about what it means to live a civic life. Students will connect intellectual themes and scholarly knowledge with the learning that has occurred in civic co-curricular experiences—to create theoretically informed praxis. The capstone course will require students to critically re-examine what is civic engagement with the goal of encouraging students to determine in what ways concepts are illustrated in their co-curricular experiences.” It will also allow students to reflect on their entire Duke experience in order to think about their values and priorities and begin to chart their post Duke futures.
