Isak Tranvik is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Duke University specializing in Political Theory with a secondary specialization in Law and Politics. His dissertation examines the theories of citizenship underpinning radical democratic political action practiced by "spiritual" or "religious" groups (e.g. Indian Independence Movement, American Civil Rights Movement, the Velvet Revolution, etc.). More broadly, he is interested in democratic theory, civic education, political theology, and normative political economy. Isak has a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from St. Olaf College, a M.Ed in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a M.A. in Political Science from Duke.
