Hannah M. Ridge is a PhD candidate specializing in Comparative Politics (Middle East/North Africa) and Political Institutions. Her dissertation examines the impact of citizens’ understanding of democracy as a system of government on democratic commitment in Egypt and Morocco. Additional projects explore the dynamics of public satisfaction with democracy and religion and secularism politics. Her research uses a variety of cross-national surveys, including original survey experiments. Before coming to Duke, she earned a master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago.
