How has being a Political Science graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?

The Duke Political Science Department gave me the skills and education necessary to pursue a fulfilling career. After graduation, I became a Schwarzman Scholar and earned a Masters degree in Beijing.   Whether through international relations classes with Dr. Feaver political philosophy courses with Dr. Gillespie, the advising of Dr. Beardsley, the advice of Ms. Pierce, or the classes with and the help of many others, I learned a how to think critically and communicate my ideas to a variety of audiences. These skills were highly necessary for my graduate studies and the beginning of my career. I am so grateful for the mentorship and opportunities I received from Duke Political Science.

What advice would you give students in Political Science?

I would recommend getting involved with Political Science related extracurriculars. For me, the American Grand Strategy Program was a cornerstone of my undergraduate experience.
