D. Sunshine Hillygus, professor of Political Science and Public Policy, has been elected a Fellow of the Society for Political Methodology in 2025.
Hillygus’s research spans American political behavior, campaigns and elections, survey methodology, public opinion, and the interplay between information technology and politics. She is co‑author of “Making Young Voters: Converting Civic Attitudes into Civic Action” (Cambridge University Press, 2020), “The Persuadable Voter: Wedge Issues in Political Campaigns” (Princeton University Press, 2008), and “The Hard Count: The Social and Political Challenges of the 2000 Census” (Russell Sage Foundation, 2006).
The Society for Political Methodology awards the distinction of Fellow to those whose methodological scholarship has made outstanding contributions to the development of political methodology and has had a major international impact across disciplines.
“I am thrilled to share that I have been selected to the position of Fellow of the Society for Political Methodology — easily one of the highlights of my career. It is humbling to be included in this remarkable group of scholars,” said Hillygus.
“This is a wonderful and noteworthy career achievement,” said Kerry Haynie, professor of Political Science and Dean of the Social Sciences for the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. “This honor is a testament to the excellence of Sunshine’s body of scholarship, and to her engagement in multiple disciplines.”
