I am a political theorist specializing in normative political theory and a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Duke University. My research interests encompass victimhood, oppression, resistance, political emotions, hate speech, and legal theory. As a Korean lawyer, I worked as a Junior Legal Officer at the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, and have lived in four countries across three continents. My dissertation presents a normative theory of victimhood, arguing that recognizing one's status as a victim can serve as a positive political resource. I propose ways in which both victims of oppression and non-victims should approach victimhood in political contexts to ensure constructive politics. My research has been supported by the Duke Kenan Institute for Ethics and the Kwanjeong Educational Foundation.
