How has being a political science major shaped my success?
My political science studies at Duke created the foundation for everything I do today -- from covering national events to writing about former Presidents. Sometimes I will even recall specifics from a class or a paper that will inspire me in some way. Duke poli sci taught me how different political systems function and that has been a huge advantage for me throughout my career.
What advice would I give them?
Try to get some experience watching real politics in action. Be a part of it, cover it but get out in the field. Studying political science is a critical component to understanding and learning, but actually being a part of it provides an additional component that no classroom can offer.
